Ellie
A horse I visited last week is a beautiful mare we will call her Ellie she is a very tall Warmblood. I have to say that Ellie did not seem overly pleased to see me! I entered the stable and introduced myself and scanned her over. She tried to bite me and lifted up her hind leg which I ignored, it felt like she was just seeing if she could frighten me.I carried on scanning her over and felt heat behind both shoulders in the girth area and also in her right neck and shoulder making her stiff on the left rein. Ellie is 15 years old but her joints seem older, she is also feeling stiff and a little uncomfortable. As I stood with her it hit me how "sour" she felt, I told Lin her owner this and she confirmed that she knew exactly what I meant.I started healing and Ellie kept on threatening me with her teeth and I asked her if I could help her. she took a big breath and her story started to unfold. Ellie has always been quite opinionated and through out her life this has not worked in her favour. Ellie's working life started when she was very young it was in a hard way with no love and understanding, this had made her angry. She showed me people pulling the girth tight, Ellie would show how she felt by trying to bite. Ellie did not want people near her, this made the people brutal brutal in the way they treated her. The girth was yanked up and they almost gave her something to bite about. ""there was never any appreciation, even if you did your best they always wanted more. If you jumped clear they wanted you to jump higher if you went fast they wanted faster, it was never enough"Ellie said.Ellie now has a forever home where she is loved and appreciated but now her body will not let her do her best for her lovely new mum. She told me that she is better riding in straight lines as the circles she finds hard and that who ever rides her needs to press the correct buttons or she will not respond.Ellie then became quiet as the healing energy got to work and she showed me a picture of a field of mares and foals and she was in the neighbouring field looking longingly. "I would of liked a foal but never given the opportunity" I passed this message on and Lin confirmed that in the field Ellie is a mother hen to all the younger and smaller horses and ponies. When I healed her right shoulder Ellie turned around and nudged my hand further down until I was inside her shoulder and then she lifted up her leg so my hand could go higher. She stood like this for quite a while as the healing did it's work. Once Ellie had taken all the healing she needed she yawned and yawned and then walked away my job was done and I was no longer needed!Lin stroked Ellie and told her that they could get old together and that happy hacks is all that is required!I then received this message a few days laterWanted to let you know that Ellie is much calmer, less biting and even let's me girth her up without too much protest! She still hasn't shown me where her buttons are but we've had a couple of nice hacks round the cross country course:-)) Ann who you met can't believe the change in Ellie
